Julien is a soul, jazz and Afro funk Dj since 1995. He is a rare groove records digger and co-founder (along with Djamel Hammadi) of Hot Casa Records, an afro soul label created in 2002.
He is also a musician in the french nu jazz band ‘Hi Perspective’, known for their remixes of Ravi Shankar, Astor Piazzolla, and Furyo soundtrack. He is a resident DJ in prestigious places, like ManRay Restaurant in Paris and Hyatt on the Bund in Shanghaï in 2008. As resident DJ, since 1999 he used to organise the jazz brunch in ‘le Reservoir’, with an upcoming soul jazz band from Paris . After a few residencies in Sir Winston, Murano hotel, L’ Alcazar, Baxo and Kube hotel, Mama Shelter, and L’Avenue in Paris, he has also mixed all over the world (Moscow, Miami, Zimbabwe, New York) with his close friend and Dj Nickodemus.
Since 2012 , he ’s the resident Dj and sound designer of « L’avenue » from the Costes Hotel group, situated in the prestigious Avenue Montaigne in Paris .
Globe trooter, he’s always trying to travel in Benin, Senegal, Togo, Ivory Coast, Brazil, and India, to find records and the original musicians to licence directly golden funky treasures from the ’70s.
He created the ‘Togo Soul’ compilation and few rare nigerian soul and disco reissues.
