Daniel Goiana a.k.a. Daniel Cantagalo is a sociologist whose research focuses on culture. He has also been a DJ since 2009, having worked on a lot of styles of Brazilian music (MPB, Forró, Sambajazz, etc.). Combining these two activities, sociologist and DJ, with the curiosity to understand Brazilian music, Cantagalo turns his research into true cultural expeditions to the styles and rhythms he studies. Currently, his research and his set focus on the “Brazilian Caribbean Music” project, where he searches for music produced between the late 70s and early 90s, in the north and northeast of Brazil, that is influenced by Caribbean rhythms. Exclusive research, with which the DJ/Sociologist seeks to disseminate this style in as many places as possible around the world. In addition to producing mixtapes and web radio programs, Cantagalo has performed in a lot of cities in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and toured Europe in 2020.
